About Your Accommodation
nThambo Tree Camp is an intimate eco-friendly, treehouse-style safari camp set in the heart of the Big 5 Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. With only five chalets in total, the camp offers a quiet and personal safari experience where guests can fully immerse themselves in the surrounding wilderness. Elevated above the bush on wooden stilts, the accommodation provides a unique perspective over the open savannah and distant Drakensberg mountain range.
Each chalet sleeps two guests and is designed with a blend of wood, canvas, and thatch, creating an authentic bush atmosphere with understated comfort. Rooms feature a semi open-plan design with either Hollywood twin or king beds, en-suite bathrooms, and private verandahs that open out onto uninterrupted views of the reserve and on-site waterhole.
The main area is set under thatch and includes a dining space, lounge, and bar, all positioned to take advantage of sweeping views across the landscape. A small splash pool with sun loungers offers a relaxing vantage point overlooking the waterhole, where elephants and other wildlife are frequently seen.
Evenings are spent around the camp’s traditional boma, where an open fire and star-filled skies create a classic safari setting for shared meals and stories from the bush.

Accommodation Information
The camp features five semi open-plan, treehouse-style chalets, each accommodating a maximum of 2 guests. Powered by solar energy, the chalets are raised on wooden stilts with decking floors, canvas walls, and thatched roofs, creating a unique and authentic safari experience in the Greater Kruger.
Each chalet includes:
- King-sized bed (can be converted into Hollywood twin beds)
- En-suite bathroom with shower and toilet (no baths)
- Private veranda overlooking the open plains and distant Drakensberg mountain range
- Solar-powered lighting
- Standard South African plug point for charging devices
- Tea and coffee facilities (hot water flasks provided)
- In-room storage space
